Present day Ocean currents. below note large doldrums, lack of current zones. Below note no major Arctic current because of ice cap. With melted ice cap there IS a strong Arctic current that in turn forces Gulf Stream south to Africa - delivering rain to the Sahara, while in N America the stronger North Pacific (Japaneese) current keeps heat from the Alaska current and not going to Canada, but to the California current, causing warmth there, but a frigid zone in Canada, a totally different weather pattern. Once the Glacial pattern sets in it does not easily shift back to the interglacial pattern. |
